GREMONT · MEASURING GUIDE
Choose the mounting method for your Roman shade. Measure at all six points, then use the rule for that method to work out the order size.
A beautiful fit begins with the right measurements.
W1 · W2 · W3 H1 · H2 · H3BEFORE YOU START
Use a rigid tape measure. Record each width at the top, middle and bottom (W1–W3), then each height at the left, middle and right (H1–H3). Keep every reading in inches and label each window.
01 / DRILL-IN · INSIDE MOUNT
Measure the clear inside opening. The narrowest point determines the width that can fit.
Measure W1, W2 and W3 inside the frame. Use the smallest width as the window width.
Measure H1, H2 and H3 inside the frame, from the top of the opening to the sill. Use the smallest height as the window height.
Check at least 2½ in of usable recess depth, with clear space for the headrail and any handles or locks.
Example: 33¾ in is the smallest width → order width no greater than 33½ in. Use the smallest H for the window height; verify what the chosen product form calls its height field.
02 / DRILL-IN · OUTSIDE MOUNT
Measure the outside frame and plan coverage on both sides before ordering.
Measure W1, W2 and W3 across the outside of the frame. Use the largest width as the window width.
Measure H1, H2 and H3 along the outside of the frame. Use the largest height as the window height.
Check for a flat, secure mounting surface above the opening. Allow room for the headrail, controls and the shade’s full travel.
Example: 34 in is the largest outside width → order width at least 38 in, giving at least 2 in of overlap per side if centered. Confirm the desired top mounting point and bottom drop for order height.
03 / NO-DRILL · INSIDE MOUNT
Measure within the recess and check that the window can accept the selected no-drill system.
Measure W1, W2 and W3 inside the frame. Record the smallest width as the window width.
Measure H1, H2 and H3 inside the frame. Record the smallest height as the window height.
The usable recess depth must be at least 2½ in. Check frame shape, material, condition, handles and opening clearance against the exact no-drill hardware.
Example: W1 = 33¾ in, W2 = 34 in, W3 = 34 in → reference width 33¾ in. No ¼ in drilled-mount deduction is specified for this method; confirm the final order size for the selected no-drill system.
KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL READINGS
Write down all seven values before calculating an order size. Keep the measured opening size separate from the finished order size.
W = width, H = height, D = usable recess depth. Recheck the numbers and confirm whether the product form requests the window opening or finished order dimensions.
